Scientists see what research participants picture in their mind’s eye

Researchers have found that the meaning of what a person is imagining can be determined from the pattern of their electrical brain activity, even if what they are imagining is different from what they are looking at, and that real-time feedback makes this distinction even clearer. Communication devices based on this technology could be invaluable for severely paralyzed patients, such as those with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, who are otherwise unable to express their thoughts.

       Psikolojide araştırma sürecinin en temel taşı "problem" olarak görülmektedir. Bir araştırmaya başlamak için önce sizi düşündüren, yoran, endişelendiren bir probleminiz olmalıdır. Endişeli ve yorma kelimelerini  bir probleme yoğunlaşma anlamında ifade ediyorum. Bu durum sizi korkutmamalıdır.        Problemin  tez-antitez-sentez paradigmasını maddeler ile daha belirgin hale getirelim. Psikoloji bir sosyal bilim olduğu için bu doğrultuda açıklama yapacağım. İlk olarak; "Bilimsel problemin tespit edilmesi" olarak yola çıkalım. Belli bir problemimiz var ve bu problemin  nasıl bir doğaya sahip olduğunu bilmemiz için ikinci bir yola ihtiyacımız var : "Gözlem" . Gözlemlediğimiz problem hakkında veri yani bilgi topluluğunu bir araya getirmeliyiz. Bu aşama da üçüncü aşamamız olmaktadır. Elimizde problemin doğası hakkında ciddi bir bilgi mevcut. Bu bilgiler doğrultusunda artık belli bir neden-sonuç ilişkisini tetikleyecek varsayımlarda bulunabiliriz
