Do violent video games numb us towards real violence?

Neuroscientists have investigated whether playing violent video games leads to a reduction in human empathy. To do this, they had adult test subjects play a violent video game repeatedly over the course of an experiment lasting several weeks. Before and after, their empathic responses to the pain of another person were measured. It was found that the violent video game had no discernible effect on empathy and underlying brain activity.

       Psikolojide araştırma sürecinin en temel taşı "problem" olarak görülmektedir. Bir araştırmaya başlamak için önce sizi düşündüren, yoran, endişelendiren bir probleminiz olmalıdır. Endişeli ve yorma kelimelerini  bir probleme yoğunlaşma anlamında ifade ediyorum. Bu durum sizi korkutmamalıdır.        Problemin  tez-antitez-sentez paradigmasını maddeler ile daha belirgin hale getirelim. Psikoloji bir sosyal bilim olduğu için bu doğrultuda açıklama yapacağım. İlk olarak; "Bilimsel problemin tespit edilmesi" olarak yola çıkalım. Belli bir problemimiz var ve bu problemin  nasıl bir doğaya sahip olduğunu bilmemiz için ikinci bir yola ihtiyacımız var : "Gözlem" . Gözlemlediğimiz problem hakkında veri yani bilgi topluluğunu bir araya getirmeliyiz. Bu aşama da üçüncü aşamamız olmaktadır. Elimizde problemin doğası hakkında ciddi bir bilgi mevcut. Bu bilgiler doğrultusunda artık belli bir neden-sonuç ilişkisini tetikleyecek varsayımlarda bulunabiliriz
